I had a follow up appointment with my cardiologist today. Prior to this and right after my angiogram I was told by the cardiologist that I had a 40% blockage and that 40% wasn’t bad. He said during my appointment today that a 40% blockage isn’t bad and is normal. He said that most people have blockages in this range. He said my heart was strong and healthy. The anomalies in the stress test, that prompted the angiogram showed that I had depressed heart function. The angiogram proved the stress test wrong. The cardiologist said the only concern is me being type 2 diabetic puts me at higher risk of heart problems and I would need to see a cardiologist annually. It is now apparent that my chest pains were just pains in my pectoral due to benching in a powerlifting meet. I am relieved that I don’t have heart problems and it was a good thing I had it checked out. At least I know the condition of my heart and I can take steps to prevent it from getting worse.
