Newsletter Launch

After a lot of thought and procrastination, I have decided to start a newsletter. I am calling it PWN, which is the acronym for Phillip Wylie Newsletter. The inspiration for PWN came from my cybersecurity community friend Nicole Phillips. Last year she messaged me on LinkedIn saying “PWN stands for Phillip Wylie Network.” I plan on using PWN for a Discord community, or possibly some other platform. I was recently thinking that PWN could be Phillip Wylie Newsletter. The word PWN holds meaning to me since it’s association with hacking, and having a background as an ethical hacker and spending many years as a pentester. PWN was also part of the name of the cybersecurity group I started The PWN School Project. So based on those to things, PWN resinates with me.

For those that don’t know me, sharing information and resources has been one of my core values. It precedes my conference speaking career, and teaching. It was the first form of sharing. Before my IT or cybersecurity career, I shared information related to powerlifting, fitness, and nutrition. The first blog posts I wrote was on nutrition, and the first two podcasts I was on was a low carb podcast, and a fitness podcast. My sharing evolved into teaching, conference speaking, and podcasting. In this newsletter, I will share podcast episodes, my conference speaking, workshop teaching, and other conference and community activities. I plan to share information on cybersecurity tools and especially hacking tools since offensive security is my expertise. I am a fan of personal branding, marketing, and content creation. I plan to share information around those topics too.

Along with sharing resources, this is a way for me to connect with listeners of the Phillip Wylie Show. This will help me connect with listeners in person at conferences and other events. Networking and meeting people is one of my favorite things and what I like best that have come out of podcasting and authoring “The Pentester Blueprint: Starting a Career in Ethical Hacking.” I am the concept creator and coauthor of the book.
